...I think what you did was to restrain from putting labels on Noah and you recognised that he had his own higher intelligence that was going to guide him in his own unique development process... It was this recognition, validation and trust that he had not previously received and he flourished in it.

AREAS OF DEVELOPMENT

Tuition uplifts all children. It makes a difference to the child with a special need, to the child who loves learning and to the child who has a special gift (eg. for mathematics).

At Børn, tuition is available in all areas of your child's development. Parents' identified focus area will be the point of departure, and from then on it is the teacher's task to ensure all learning areas are covered and fully met. Through a non-judgemental approach, children ‘awake’ and become able and aware that all learning is possible.

Sensorial

Children find out about the world through their senses. Movement is therefore an important aspect of learning.

The young child loves to handle, explore and manipulate objects, all is new and calls for an investigation.

Children thrive with the opportunity to learn from an abundance of intelligent, high quality learning materials.

Fine Motor Skills

These skills are the foundation upon which all is built.

From pencil hold and scissor control, to placing and using a ruler, pulling, pouring and managing exactness when required.

Mastering fine motor skills brings with it an understanding that accuracy is a worthwhile tool, and that getting it right the first time means not needing to repeat.

A lack of fine motor skills can flow on to having awkward gross motor movement and also affect self-confidence.

Literacy

Every day children see adults read, so naturally they want to learn to read too. From an early age they are drawn firstly to writing letters, then, through tuition and working methodically with the alphabet and other language materials, they commence reading. Concurrent to this tuition, children become strong at spelling, sentence structure, vocabulary.

The four year old who reads rarely stops.

Numeracy

Numbers fascinate children, and they love to count: plates at the table, steps going up or down a staircase, how many dogs there are in the park or how many girls and boys are sitting at a table. Through tuition, children learn easily to work with large numbers as easily as with small numbers. When shown how to count, and how to work with the decimal system, children will keep counting.

As always, ordering the world through their mind helps them understand.

Language & Communication

From birth, children are fascinated by faces, they watch a mouth intensely as someone sweetly speaks to them - and one day they say their first word. They learn to speak their mother tongue, and many more language if the opportunity is there.

Communicating, sharing, seeking understanding, questioning, confirming, simply practicing over and over is a joy for the young child. Free, flowing, natural speech is a gift for life.
